My Baby, The Elevated Open Mic

It’s mothafucken 2025 yall! Right on the cusp of our Hot, Creative Girl Summer!

And with beautiful weather, comes beautiful moments with beautiful people. And the beginning of our summer series of Elevated Open Mics!

Honestly summer nights with live performances, good weed, good food, and good people is really what its about. And Chicago doesn’t play about its talent. It’s a show EVERY SINGLE TIME.

It’s because of the love and dedication that all of you have for the Open Mic that pushes me forward. Motivates me to dedicate more of my time, more of my energy, and more of my money into this beautiful space that only grows.

Here is the summer schedule for our Elevated Open Mic at Blazed Bakery! 

I love Blazed Bakery, it consistently has been a safe space for me and all my performers. I am grateful to their commitment to our Open Mic and I think it’s a great space in a great area to be.

Join us for the 4 Year Anniversary of The Elevated Open Mic!

I genuinely cannot believe how fast time flies. The Elevated Open Mic has been such a pillar in my life. A safe space for everyone, but especially for me. A place where I can just chill with other writers and creatives, get high, talk about poetry, and just exist. Without any judgements, without worry about what I look like. I can share my poetry, be my goofy ass self, and even rap if I want to!

I am super happy to celebrate with you all, share our amazing performances, and just come together in community. I have always had continuing dreams of expanding and I am happy to now expand to the Elevated Poetry Slam and the Elevated Freestyle Battles.

I Also Want to Announce the Planning of the FIRST Elevated Open Mic Festival

What once started as a blunt and a dream, has now grown into a platform for local creatives to come together. I am dedicated to pushing that forward onto an even bigger stage. I am excited to announce that we are in the beginning stages of putting together the FIRST Elevated Open Mic Festival.

My vision for this festival is to have a stage for our performers. To invite the entire community to experience what true unity looks like. From all walks of life. 

A true representation of Brown and Black people coming together in community.

Like the Open Mic has always been. I will continue to push for unity in our city. And I will continue to create spaces where we can come together. We open up the summer with our 4 year anniversary, and close out the summer with a festival.

I have always been transparent about funding the Open Mic from your support and the support of our sponsors. It is with all your help that we have been able to keep the Open Mic free. My plan has never been to make money off of the Open Mic, it has just grown to be a part of so many of our lives.

When: Saturday September 27th, 2025 3PM-9PM

Where: La Villita Park (hopefully)

What: A spoken word festival with a live Open Mic. We will have live performances from Chicago favorites, Creative Writing Workshops in the sun, and local vendors that will keep everyone fed, hydrated, and entertained.

With that being said, this is a community, and I know together we can do some real shit. To start, I want to apply for these permits ASAP. You know these local fuck ass government agencies will find any excuse to cockblock. So I want to get everything submitted ASAP. Once we have a permit, the sky’s the limit yall. Initial fee is $135, but with the addition of the stage, vendors, and porta potties, I will be getting a final fee once submitted.
